Our service offering

K-9 search and investigate is a division dedicated to search and investigate, we specialised in fire/explosion investigations, general investigation, vehicle fire investigation, residential property fire investigation, commercial property fire investigation and missing person. We realised that dogs are a valuable resource on any investigation. We have units in North West and Gauteng all our handlers supply their own equipment that enables them to handle search and investigation task.

The main aim of search & investigation K-9 Team is to support emergency responders’ efforts to locate any substance that might have been used during arson, or any criminal activity. Our service includes search of missing persons, Area Searches for Discarded Evidence, Suspect Searches, Searching Buildings of all Occupancies, Area Searches for Discarded Evidence, Vehicle Fires.

Our dogs are fully compliant with South African legal requirements.

Dogs are certified to comply with South African – International bench-marked legislation as published in government gazette board notice 15 read with section 44 (2)(c) of the Private Security Industry Regulatory Act, 2001 (Act no. 56 of 2001) that determines the minimum standards of Substance Detection Dogs.

Our dogs are able to assist Law Enforcement and Investigation

Drug Detection: used to detect narcotics and other illegal substances with high accuracy.
Explosive Detection: These dogs are trained to identify various explosive compounds, enhancing security at public events or sensitive locations.
Tracking Suspects: They can follow a suspect’s trail, leading officers to their location or providing evidence of their presence.
Apprehension: Some K-9s are trained to apprehend suspects by detaining them or alerting their handlers to their location.

We have different breeds are selected based on their specific skills and temperament:

German Shepherds: Known for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility, making them ideal for police work and protection tasks.
Belgian Malinois: Highly agile and energetic, often used in military operations and search missions.
Labrador Retrievers: Favored for scent detection tasks such as drug and bomb detection due to their friendly disposition and strong nose.
Bloodhounds: Renowned for tracking abilities, often used in search and rescue operations.

The process of search and investigation with K-9 units typically involves the following steps:

Assessment: Handlers assess the situation and determine the best approach for utilizing the K-9's skills.
Deployment: The dog is deployed to search an area, vehicle, or building, using its trained skills to detect scents or locate targets.
Alert: Upon finding something of interest, the dog will alert its handler, often through barking, sitting, or another trained signal.
Investigation: Handlers and officers investigate the area or item identified by the dog to confirm the presence of contraband, explosives, or a person.
Apprehension (if necessary): In cases of suspect pursuit, K-9s may assist in detaining or capturing individuals
